Sunworks offers programs within the performing arts,

as well as professional and personal development.

​​      We provide process-based creative arts programs that facilitate social and life skills development. We are dedicated to providing programs that help participants expand artistic skills and grow in a structured, non-competitive, inspirational atmosphere.

Sunworks spans the realm of the fine arts.

Artistic & Executive Director: Sunworks was founded in May of 1991 by Laurie Oulette, a Metis woman originally from Flin Flon, Manitoba. Laurie attended Simon Fraser University in B.C where she minored in dance and choreography and majored in aboriginal social work at the University of Calgary. She has been involved with the performing arts industry for 30 years.

 

Youth Director: Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Shayla  Jade Oulette (Stonechild), has been acting, dancing and modeling since she was 6 years old. Sunworks has been a part of her life since day one. She has had the chance to participate in several performances across Canada, including, fashion shows, film and tv, documentary's, motivational speaking, theatre, etc. Shayla won the title of 'Miss Teen Medicine Hat' and was a Miss Teen Canada finalist in 2010 and also the 'Metis Youth Ambassador of Alberta' in 2011.  ​​She was recently also a selected delegate for ACTIVATE in Ottawa.
